Academic Affairs Committee

The Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) is a standing committee of the Rensselaer Union Student Senate tasked with overseeing academics, academic curricula, and academic advising. It is the oldest committee of the Senate, being established between 1970 and 1974, although it was briefly dissolved, alongside every other committee, during the Senate's usage of the team system in the late 1990s.

History

The Academic Affairs Committee is the oldest committee of the Student Senate, formed sometime between 1970 and 1974. The earliest known copy of the Senate Bylaws, dated 1974, refer to it as the "Academics Committee". By 1981, it had taken its modern name, and ...

In 1994, the Senate ended the committee system and replaced it with a team system. AAC, in turn, ceased to operate, being replaced with the Education/Academics Core Team. Some time between 1998 and 2000, the Senate re-instated the committee system, and AAC was brought back as a result.
