Heliocampus is a tool used by RPI for various functionalities. If you've heard of it, it's probably because of course evaluations, but in recent years its syllabus access tool was opened up to the general student body. This tool contains data from the syllabi of hundreds of class sections going back many years, and is very useful for planning ahead or even getting an idea of what a course entails before syllabi are officially released. This guide describes how to access syllabi on Heliocampus and the limitations offered by the tool.

Accessing Heliocampus Syllabi

Begin by entering the Heliocampus website. There are several ways to get there:

  1. Go directly to Heliocampus via assessment.rpi.edu.
  2. Go to info.rpi.edu, and find Heliocampus under "Faculty and Staff Resources" or "Student Resources" (although they are two separate items, the links are identical).
  3. Access this informational link on the Provost's website. Although it directs you to info.rpi.edu, it includes a helpful tutorial for using Heliocampus.

You will find yourself asked to sign in. Do so. Open the sidebar to the top-right (the 3-by-3 grid icon), and click "Educational Experiences" and then "Course Sections".

Search for your course. It is highly recommended that you input the course code (e.g. ENGR-1100 or ENGR 1100) rather than the course name. This is because the course . Similarly, if there is a particular section you are looking for, consider including that in your search, because the results sort primarily by section number, such that ENGR-1100-02's syllabus in Spring 2026 will show up after ENGR-1100-01's syllabus in Fall 2021.
